Large Scale Deployment

Applies to: MindManager Pro 7 & MindManager 8

The admin setup is primarily for systems administrators.  This is used for large-scale deployment and for custom installs.  The average individual should not need it. The Admin package contains the MindManager Pro 7 MSI installer and all other required components, such as Windows Installer 3.0, .NET 2.0 Framework and a full technical reference for deploying MindManager.

Software activation Isses

How to resolve activation issues...

MindManager license keys are activated and verified using your Internet connection. In most cases the [Automatic, via Internet] option will be the most suitable method, as this allows for immediate activation of your product. In cases of no Internet connectivity or when there are other security restrictions (i.e. corporate firewalls), the third option [Manual, via e-mail] should be selected. The process will allow you to retrieve an ID code that can then be sent to activation@mindjet.com for processing. Once processed a manual file will be returned to you. This file can then be used to activate the product by selecting the second option [Manual, using a license file]. We recommend installing in trial mode while waiting for a response, therefore allowing you to begin using the product immediately.

Installation Advice:

Most downloads are delivered in .zip format to reduce download time. When your download is finished, you will need to right click the file and extract the contents before installing.

How do I download, extract and install the software?

  1. Click on the 'Download Now' button above. A dialog box will appear asking you if you wish to 'Open', 'Save' or 'Cancel'. Select 'Save'.
  2. A second dialog box will appear asking you to select the location you wish to save to. It is recommended that you save the file to your desktop because you can easily locate the file after the download completes.
  3. Allow the download to complete then locate the file on your desktop. Right click on the file and select the option 'Extract All'.
  4. This will open the 'Extraction Wizard', click the next button. You will be asked to specify the location you want to extract the files to. By default this should be the desktop, but if not use the 'Browse' to select the desktop.
  5. Select 'Next' to begin extracting. Once completed ensure the check box to 'View Extracted Files' is checked and click finish.
  6. A second window containing the extracted files should now be open, inside you will find a setup .exe file (there may also be some additional PDF User Guides depending on the software). You can install your new software by clicking this setup file.

Firewall or download problems?

If you are behind a firewall you may not be able to download .exe files directly, check this before proceeding. Also, your browser may restrict such downloads (try adding www.mindlogik.com  as trusted sites or temporarily lower your security settings). Alternatively your anti-virus software may be blocking the download. Try downloading the .zip packages instead, then right click and use 'Extract All' option to uncompress the file content.

Remember that intermittent connection problems with your ISP can cause download failures. If you experience time out related issues we recommend waiting 30 minutes and trying again.

Can't run the installer?

A good place to start is to verify you are on the correct platform and you meet the system requirements (visit http://www.mindlogik.com/mindmanagerpro7.htm and select the appropriate product page for system requirement information.

If you are on a corporate network, make sure you have enough permissions to run the .exe, if not contact your IT support to obtain sufficient privileges.
