This blog explores collaboration tools , products, innovation and methodologies used to foster, nurture and extend physical interaction into the virual realm of using the Internet as a place of interconnectedness for the collective melding of minds.

Create security protocols within a Mindjet Catalyst workspace

I recently worked with a client who highlighted a challenge faced when using Mindjet Catalyst. They faced the problem of not being able to restrict map user access to data on a subtopic from within a MindManager map that allowed access to a group of users. Certain users of this workspace needed to be restricted from access to some documents .

To solve this problem we did the following:

We created a sub folder workspace attached to a designated Mindjet Catalyst workspace. We then restricted access to this sub folder workspace ( excluded members of the main workspace who did not have access to these documents). These documents were then uploaded to this workspace which we named *** _Documents Folder (***= descriptive Suffix).

When a member of the main Mindjet Catalyst workspace clicks on a subfolder document restricted to them they will be redirected to the *** _Documents Folder which automatically denies them acccess because they are not members of this workspace.

Problem solved .

MediaNoteTaker
9 developed from an idea I had years ago, just after I started using an
earlier version of the MindManager. Being a very visual person I
thought that it would be great to be able to attach audio and video to
mind maps. This was the start of the journey in
developing a mind mapping media editing tool for MindManager. As the
product developed and as I spoke to different people to elicit feedback
so the opportunities for application for our product also developed.

I have been using MindManager since it's first version and this was
what eventually prompted me to start my own business focussed on
mindmapping and related business and education methodologies. At that
stage I was studying a post graduate computing qualification part-time
and working full time. As part of my studies and general work processes
I used MindManager through it's different version iterations and with
the advent of MindManager Pro 7 I got to a point where I needed the
product to do a bit more for handling raw audio and video data files.
The release of MindManager 8 with integrated browser functionality was
a step in the right direction but did not provide
an appropriate set of media manipulation tools. This lead to our
business moving in to the software development arena and 14 months down
the track we are at the point of launching our new website with our own
plug-in for MindManager Pro 7 and 8 called MediaNoteTaker 9

We sincerely hope that this addition to the Mindjet MindManager
Solutions suite of products will be a valuable tool that enhances
your mind mapping experience. Over the coming months we will write
about how to integrate and use MediaNoteTaker 9 to enhance and Sens-e-tise your mind maps and business processes
